Panasonic Varicam HD Cinema Cameras Chosen to
Capture "The Casino" TV Series
(Jan. 12, 2004) —
Panasonic announced that
its AJ-HD27 VariCam High Definition Cinema cameras have been selected
to shoot THE CASINO, a new unscripted drama for FOX. THE CASINO will be
the first Primetime Network unscripted reality series to be shot in its
entirety in high definition (HD).
Production by reality king Mark Burnett Productions on the 13-episode
series will begin this Spring and air in summer 2004.
THE CASINO will provide a 24/7, behind-the-scene
look at the real-life dramas that unfold at the Golden Nugget Hotel and
Casino after its new owners take control of the business and attempt to
bring back it back to its past glory. The series will center on
entrepreneurs Timothy Poster and Thomas Breitling whose start-up
Travelscape.com revolutionized the travel industry. The companys sale
to Expedia in 2000 made the pair multimillionaires, and Poster and
Breitling will use part of their fortunes to fulfill their life-long
dream of purchasing the Golden Nugget in downtown Las Vegas, and its
sister property in Laughlin, NV. The duo are betting that they can
return the hotel to the glory of its Rat Pack heyday by providing the
best service in Las Vegas.
