Police Have Never Turned Down Reports on Gambling Activities
Kedah Chief Police Officer Datuk Mohamed Supian Amat said Sunday that
Anak Bukit and Pantai Johor police had never turned down any report
about illegal gambling activities.
Only one such report was received at the Alor Star Police Station on
April 29 but no such report was received in Anak Bukit and Pantai Johor,
he said in a statement.
"I wish to state that a report was received only at the Alor Star
Police Station on April 29 and no report was made at the Anak Bukit
police station at any time," Mohamed Supian said.
He said this when commenting on the matter as raised by the Chairman
of the Special Commission To Enhance the Operations and Management of
the Royal Malaysia Police Tun Mohamed Dzaidin Abdullah.
The commission while in Alor Star had directed an association to make
a fresh police report at the Anak Bukit Police Station about gambling
activities after an earlier report was allegedly rejected.
Supian explained that on the day in question a man went to the Alor
Star Police Station Inquiry Section at about 10 am and met the duty
officer a corporal and told him that he wanted to provide information on
gambling activities in Anak Bukit and Pantai Johor.
"The corporal brought the man to the Secret Society, Vice and
Gambling Criminal Branch where he was attended to by a junior officer as
the senior officer was away in Penang attending a court case."
"As the man said he wanted only to deal with the senior officer of
the branch, he agreed to come the next time because he had information
on illegal four digit gambling," he said.
