Workers at Casino Windsor Reach a Tentative Deal
Workers at Casino Windsor reached a tentative
agreement Wednesday after a 40-day strike.
The four-year deal includes across-the-board pay raises for workers of
50 cents an hour the first year and 40 cents an hour each of the
following three years, as well as signing bonuses of $1,500 for
full-time workers, $1,200 for part-time workers and $750 for students
and probationary employees.
It also addresses working conditions, benefits and job losses from
technology.
A ratification vote for the 3,500 members of Local 444 of the Canadian
Auto Workers is set for Thursday morning.
Negotiations resumed with a government-appointed mediator Tuesday for
the first time since workers rejected the company’s contract offer on
April 30.
Union president Ken Lewenza said he thinks members will be pleased.
